This post is all about book boyfriends. 

I’m guessing you got hooked on the “book boyfriends” part of the title. I know I did, and I wrote it! 😄

As a hardcore romance fan I know for a fact that as romance readers we love book boyfriends. So, why not compile a list of the best book boyfriends across all romance books, be they dark romance, romantasy, or contemporary. 

This list compiles all of the best book boyfriends that will literally have you swooning. Oh and be sure to expect plenty of book boyfriends fanart as well. 

This post is not a book boyfriends ranked list, but be sure to have fun ranking each of them in the comments. 

Buuuuuutttt, all I’m saying is that Mr. High Lord of the Night Court (Rhysand) will always take number 1. 

Rhysand – A Court Of Mist and Fury

Rhysand is the book boyfriend for you if you love your book boyfriend, possessive, protective, and utterly and wildly in love with you. Oh, and he’s also not afraid to showcase his obsession and love for you to the entire world!

Rhysand really honors his mate and treats her as his equal, and he sure as hell makes everyone else do so too. If you remember the throne room scene in the court of Nightmares, then you know very well how much Rhysand demands respect for his mate. 

ACOTAR has seriously some of the best book boyfriends you will ever meet and fall in love with. 

Jacks – Once Upon A Broken Heart

Jacks and his devil-may-care attitude quite literally had all fans of Once Upon A Broken Heart in a surreal chokehold. 

Jacks is the type of book boyfriend to do all sorts of crazy things for the woman he loves, but hides it behind secrets, lies, and the illusion of his own agenda. Being the Prince of Hearts, he spent his life searching for his true love, and found it in another woman that was not his prophesied “true love”. 

Jacks is protective, charming, and almost insufferable. He’s the calculating type that hides behind easy smiles and riddled words. 

Aaron Blackford – The Spanish Love Deception

Now, if you want your book boyfriends to be a MANNNN, look no farther than Aaron Blackford. 

Reading the Spanish Love Deception I was so taken aback by the romance and true connection woven throughout the book. (You can read my full review of the book on Goodreads.)

Aaron Blackford is patient, a man of few words, a little bit stoic, but for his woman he would do anything. He’s patient in the sense that he has waited months to finally get his dream girl.

He spent every waking moment in the office bickering with her, teasing her and getting her riled up. This was definitely a rival to lovers type romance where he fell first and hard. 

You can see him showing up in his healthy masculine energy throughout the latter two-thirds of the book, where he is always there to console Catalina. He took the time to understand her and to take care of her when she needed him. 

I definitely believe Aaron would rank high on a book boyfriends like rhysand list.

You honestly have to read the book to see what I mean. You will feel so seen and understood as you watch him fall in love with her. 

Christian Harper – Twisted Lies

I finished Twisted Lies by Ana Huang just yesterday and WOW! I definitely now know why Booktok has ranked Christian Harper high on the book boyfriends list. 

Twisted Lies was a bit of a dark romance, where Christian was a billionaire CEO of a security company and a tech development company. 

He has a shady and heartbreaking past that has forced him to hate love and see it as evil/unnecessary. 

When it comes to his partner his obsession with her started a while before he officially met her, and he fell in love with her light and aura. While his life was all shadows, his partner was the light that he needed to keep going.

Christian is stoic, controlled, and lethal. Everything about him is measured and controlled, he has an aura to him that is frosty and fear-inducing. 

Watching him fall in love is the most funny, chaotic and pleasant thing ever. While he tries to fight it, his efforts are futile, and his friends grill him about it to no end. (Legend has it, they still do. 😂)

Reginald Cleaves – My Vampire Plus One

If you love your book boyfriends to be more of a golden retriever type with ahem….eccentric..fashion tastes, then Reginald Cleavesis is definitely your soulmate. 

My Vampire Plus-One had been such a hilarious Spring romance book that had me laughing and giggling the whole way through.

Reginald is definitely the golden retriever type with a bit of a devil may care attitude as well. He doesn’t take much seriously and when he loves he loves.

While his close friends know him to be selfish and self centered. When it comes to Amelia Collins he’s all of a sudden trying to learn how to make buttermilk pancakes and go grocery shopping for “human food stuff”.  (His words, not mine. 😄)

Reginald is kind, eccentric, funny, and incredibly handsome, if the cover is anything to go by. 

Zade Meadows – Haunting Adeline

Yep, we all knew Zade was going to be on this book boyfriends list.

Haunting Adeline still haunts me to this day, but Zade will forever have a place in our hearts.

Zade is perfect for you if you love possessive, maybe psychotic, tall, lethal, and obsessive book boyfriends. Zade can be considered one of the most toxic of toxic book boyfriends on this list, but he sure as hell knows how to love and please a woman.

He’s patient, has a stalking tendency with a slight delusion when it comes to obtaining his woman. That’s the best I can say without spoiling the book for you. 😏

Xaden Riorson – Fourth Wing

Can this even be considered as an ultimate book boyfriends list without Lieutenant Riorson. 

Said simply, Xaden can come to earth and command us and we will obey, without opposition. I’m a few pages into Onyx Storm and Xaden already has me in a chokehold. 

Xaden is perfect for you if you love a possessive and protective man who will train you to stand on your own two feet. A man who will let you fight your own battles while he stands as a second line of defense because he believes and trusts in you. 

Xaden is in his own lane and it might be hard to find book boyfriends like xaden riorson. 

Griffin Fisa – A Promise Of Fire 

Warlord. Protective older brother. Handsome. Warlord. King. Warlord.

I hope you caught my hint there, because O.M.G., Griffin Fisa is amazing! 

When I think of a gruff man, I think of Griffin. He is so noble, with so many good qualities and values that makes you fall in love with who he is as a person. 

He values loyalty, trust, fighting for what you believe in, women, doing what’s right no matter what and taking bold risks. 

This whole series was honestly one of the best romantasy book series I have read since ACOTAR. 

You will fall in love with him as you read the series and there are plenty of other worthy book boyfriends in the series that deserve a shoutout too; mainly Carver and Flynn.

Cassian – A Court Of Silver Flames

Do I even have to say anything? 

If you read A Court Of Silver Flames then you already know how much of your heart belongs to Cassian. 

Cassian is a warrior with a hell of a physique, a playful, charming and protective character who values loyalty, love, and his high lord above all else.

If you want a book boyfriend who is patient and fights for his love then Cassian is definitely the one for you. He fought until his very last breath for his mate and overcame crazy obstacles just to be with her. 

Nesta’s book will always have a warm place in our hearts.

Legend – Legendary

Next on this best romance book boyfriends list is the wonderful, elusive, and charming Legend from the Caraval series. 

The entire Caraval series was both a pain and a world wind. However the steady romance that was built between Dontatella Dragna and Legend was *chef’s kiss*.

Legend is secretive, protective, loyal, and has some selfish tendencies when it doesn’t come to his love. Legend gave up many things to be with Tella, and watching him unfold secret parts of himself to hear only makes you fall in love with him more.

Roman C. Kitt – Divine Rivals

Kitt was so relatable in the Divine Rivals series. 

Roman is the perfect book boyfriend for you if you love a hot and slightly nerdy type man who loves fiercely and will gladly die to have his partner live. 

The war setting of this book goes further to show his resilience and deep rooted love for Iris E. Winnow. This whole series was a world wind of love, pain, intrigue and utter delight.
