My Vampire Plus-One by Jenna Levine
Book Synopsis: Nothing sucks more than fake dating a vampire in this paranormal romantic comedy from the USA Today bestselling author of My Roommate Is a Vampire.
Amelia Collins is by definition successful. She would even go so far as to say successfully single. But not according to her family, and she’s tired of the constant questions about her nonexistent dating life. When an invitation to yet another family wedding arrives, she decides to get everyone off her back once and for all by finding someone–anyone–to pose as her date.
After a chance encounter with Reginald Cleaves, Amelia decides he’s perfect for her purposes. He’s a bit strange, but that’s fine; it’ll discourage tough questions from her family. (And it certainly doesn’t hurt that he’s very handsome.) For centuries-old vampire Reggie, posing as her plus-one sounds like the ultimate fun. And if it helps his ruse of pretending to be human, so much the better.
As Amelia and Reggie practice their fauxmance, it becomes clear that Reggie is as loyal to her as the day is long, and that Amelia’s first impressions could not have been more wrong. Suddenly, being in a real relationship with Reggie sounds pretty fang-tastic.
If you’re looking for a funny laugh-out-loud romance book to read, then let My Vampire Plus-One be high on your TBR list. This book had me giggling and laughing so hard that I had to reread scenes just to laugh again. This is also one of the best romance books to read on vacation that is light, fun, and incredibly entertaining. You can read my full review of My Vampire Plus-One by Jenna Levine on Goodreads.

The Only Purple House in Town by Ann Aguirre
Book Synopsis: Iris Collins is the messy one in her family. The “chaos bunny.” Her sisters are all wildly successful, while she can’t balance her budget for a single month. It’s no wonder she’s in debt to her roommates. When she unexpectedly inherits a house from her great aunt, her plan to turn it into a B&B fails—as most of her plans do. She winds up renting rooms like a Victorian spinster, collecting other lost souls…and not all of them are “human.”
Eli Reese grew up as the nerdy outcast in school, but he got rich designing apps. Now he’s successful by any standards. But he’s never had the same luck in finding a real community or people who understand him. Over the years, he’s never forgotten his first crush, so when he spots her at a café, he takes it as a sign. Except then he gets sucked into the Iris-verse and somehow ends up renting one of her B&B rooms. As the days pass, Eli grows enchanted by the misfit boarders staying in the house…and even more so by Iris. Could Eli have finally found a person and a place to call “home”?
I read this book last year on a whim and OMG, what a fantastic fantasy romance book. This book is so heartwarming and cozy that it is perfect for anyone looking for romance books to read for teens. The plot is so well crafted, and don’t even get me started on the plot twists! I highly recommend this romance book if you love fantasy mixed with modern life and found family romances.
It’s honestly so cute and warm, you can’t help but fall in love with these characters. While this is book 4 it’s perfect as a standalone.

The Downstairs Girl by Stacey Lee
Book Synopsis: From the founding member of We Need Diverse Books comes a powerful novel about identity, betrayal, and the meaning of family.
By day, seventeen-year-old Jo Kuan works as a lady’s maid for the cruel daughter of one of the wealthiest men in Atlanta. But by night, Jo moonlights as the pseudonymous author of a newspaper advice column for the genteel Southern lady, “Dear Miss Sweetie.” When her column becomes wildly popular, she uses the power of the pen to address some of society’s ills, but she’s not prepared for the backlash that follows when her column challenges fixed ideas about race and gender. While her opponents clamor to uncover the secret identity of Miss Sweetie, a mysterious letter sets Jo off on a search for her own past and the parents who abandoned her as a baby. But when her efforts put her in the crosshairs of Atlanta’s most notorious criminal, Jo must decide whether she, a girl used to living in the shadows, is ready to step into the light. With prose that is witty, insightful, and at times heartbreaking, Stacey Lee masterfully crafts an extraordinary social drama set in the New South.
You might be wondering, Habi, why is a banned book on your romance books to read list? But, hear me out, this book is a masterpiece. I wasn’t sure I would enjoy it going in but it honestly was so refreshing and funny that I couldn’t help but fall in love too.
If you love diversity in your romance books and some witty sarcasm than The Downstairs Girl is your next romance book to read. Add it to the list darling and brace yourself for the daring ride.
P.S. The ending had me screaming in joy for Jo, she deserves all the best!

A Lady’s Guide to Etiquette and Murder by Dianne Freeman
Book Synopsis: In this exciting historical mystery debut set in Victorian England, a wealthy young widow encounters the pleasures—and scandalous pitfalls—of a London social season . . .
Frances Wynn, the American-born Countess of Harleigh, enjoys more freedom as a widow than she did as a wife. After an obligatory year spent mourning her philandering husband, Reggie, she puts aside her drab black gowns, leaving the countryside and her money-grubbing in-laws behind. With her young daughter in tow, Frances rents a home in Belgravia and prepares to welcome her sister, Lily, arriving from New York—for her first London season.
No sooner has Frances begun her new life than the ghosts of her old one make an unwelcome appearance. The Metropolitan police receive an anonymous letter implicating Frances in her husband’s death. Frances assures Inspector Delaney of her innocence, but she’s also keen to keep him from learning the scandalous circumstances of Reggie’s demise. As fate would have it, her dashing new neighbor, George Hazelton, is one of only two other people aware of the full story.
While busy with social engagements on Lily’s behalf, and worrying if Reggie really was murdered, Frances learns of mysterious burglaries plaguing London’s elite. The investigation brings death to her doorstep, and Frances rallies her wits, a circle of gossips, and the ever-chivalrous Mr. Hazelton to uncover the truth. A killer is in their midst, perhaps even among her sister’s suitors. And Frances must unmask the villain before Lily’s season—and their lives—come to a most unseemly end . . .
Okay, you might begin to see a trend in this list of romance books to read. There are definitely a lot of historical romance books, but they are just so good! Honest!
I recommend every romance book lover to pick up a historical romance book, and you’ll know exactly what I mean.
The Countess Of Harleigh series has been one of my favorite spring romance books to read because of the romance, intrigue and mystery woven throughout the book. I highly recommend all to read this series, I read each book back to back.
They are that good, plus, you have insanely hilarious and out there side characters that you can’t help but love. This is also a great series for those looking for romance books to read for young adults.

What the Hex by Jessica Clare
Book Synopsis: Enemies-to-lovers has never been more enchanting in this witchy romantic comedy from the New York Times bestselling author of Go Hex Yourself .
Penny Roundtree wants nothing more than to be a familiar to a witch. She’s been a member of the Society of Familiars ever since she was old enough to join the Fam. There’s just a small problem—no one’s hiring. Witches and warlocks are so long-lived that there are far more familiars available than witches to train them. So when an unorthodox arrangement to apprentice under the table to a forbidden warlock presents itself, she takes it.
Willem Sauer is banned from having a familiar due to past transgressions, thereby limiting his magic-casting abilities. Unfortunately for the surly, Prussian warlock, he has no choice but to work with enthusiastic Penny as a familiar. They immediately clash like dried roan horsehair and honeycomb gathered by moonlight (it’s a terrible spell combination, ask anyone).
Casting spells has delightful perks Penny never could have dreamed of, but also greater dangers. Someone is targeting Penny. Willem and Penny must work together to catch their enemy, and if their ploy requires a little kissing on the side, who is to question the rules of magic?
Enemies to lovers. Say. Less.
That alone should hook you in on one of the best romance books to read that has an enemies to lovers trope. (I may be biased, but that trope has me in a chokehold.)
I already knew from the synopsis this was going to be one funny and joyful ride!

Love Unwritten by Lauren Asher
Book Synopsis: Rafael
Ellie Sinclair is a hopeless romantic who writes love songs.
I’m a struggling workaholic who could inspire a hundred breakup albums.
On paper, we have nothing in common except for my son.
For eight months, I avoid her until our summer trip.
Fourteen days. Two islands. And one nanny I shouldn’t be attracted to.
Spending time with Ellie is expected, but enjoying her company?
That isn’t part of our travel plans.
After my divorce, I swore to protect my heart at all costs.
Even if it means breaking hers in the process.
Ellie
What’s worse than working for a grumpy single dad?
Admitting that I once had a secret crush on him in high school.
Thankfully, Rafael Lopez and I have changed since we graduated from Wisteria High.
He is a billionaire with a company to run and a child to take care of.
I’m an unemployed songwriter he hired to watch his son and teach music.
We coexist without any issues until a vacation changes everything.
Lines blur and old feelings for Rafael return with vengeance as I face a new dilemma.
Being his son’s nanny is one thing, but wishing for more?
Sounds like a heartbreak song waiting to be written.
I have yet to read a single dad romance book, so this definitely made its way to the best romance books to read list. Because, come on, billionaire single dad with a nanny and sparks that are beginning to form raging flames.
Quite, literally, that is all the info you’ll need to convince you to add this book to your Spring TBR list. This is book two of the Lakefront Billionaires series, but it can also be read as a standalone.

One Dark Window by Rachel Gillig
Book Synopsis: Elspeth needs a monster. The monster might be her.
Elspeth Spindle needs more than luck to stay safe in the eerie, mist-locked kingdom of Blunder—she needs a monster. She calls him the Nightmare, an ancient, mercurial spirit trapped in her head. He protects her. He keeps her secrets.
But nothing comes for free, especially magic.
When Elspeth meets a mysterious highwayman on the forest road, her life takes a drastic turn. Thrust into a world of shadow and deception, she joins a dangerous quest to cure Blunder from the dark magic infecting it. And the highwayman? He just so happens to be the King’s nephew, Captain of the most dangerous men in Blunder…and guilty of high treason.
Together they must gather twelve Providence Cards—the keys to the cure. But as the stakes heighten and their undeniable attraction intensifies, Elspeth is forced to face her darkest secret yet: the Nightmare is slowly taking over her mind. And she might not be able to stop him.
One Dark Window is perfect for those looking for romance books to read for teens because while there is romance interwoven throughout the book it is not the main plot. The romance unfolds gradually and feels much more real and heartfelt.
If you love fantasy books that don’t have romance as the main plot point then you have found your spring romance book to read this month!

God Of Malice by Rina Kent
Book Synopsis: I caught the attention of a monster.
I didn’t ask for it.
Didn’t even see it coming.
But the moment I do, it’s too late.
Killian Carson is a predator wrapped in sophisticated charm.
He’s cold-blooded, manipulative, and savage.
The worst part is that no one sees his devil side.
I do.
And that will cost me everything.
I run, but the thing about monsters?
They always chase.
Calling all readers who are looking for dark romance books to read, I have found the perfect one that is not Haunting Adeline!
I read God of Malice by Rina Kent about a week ago and golly, I could not honest-to-goodness put it down. I went about my day looking forward to reading this book and wondering what will happen next.
The dark romance in this book is definitely dark romancing, but I recommend it all the same. This was my first dark romance book, and safe to say I’ll be heading into Haunting Adeline by H.D. Carlton next.

Much Ado About Nada by Uzma Jalaluddin
Book Synopsis: A sparkling second-chance romance inspired by Jane Austen’s Persuasion…
Nada Syed is stuck. On the cusp of thirty, she’s still living at home with her brothers and parents in the Golden Crescent neighbourhood of Toronto, resolutely ignoring her mother’s unsubtle pleas to get married already. While Nada has a good job as an engineer, it’s a far cry from realizing her start-up dreams for her tech baby, Ask Apa, the app that launched with a whimper instead of a bang because of a double-crossing business partner. Nothing in her life has turned out the way it was supposed to, and Nada feels like a failure. Something needs to change, but the past is holding on too tightly to let her move forward.
Nada’s best friend Haleema is determined to pry her from her shell…and what better place than at the giant annual Muslim conference held downtown, where Nada can finally meet Haleema’s fiancé, Zayn. And did Haleema mention Zayn’s brother Baz will be there?
What Haleema doesn’t know is that Nada and Baz have a past–some of it good, some of it bad and all of it secret. At the conference, that past all comes hurtling at Nada, bringing new complications and a moment of reckoning. Can Nada truly say goodbye to once was or should she hold tight to her dreams and find their new beginnings?
Other than the historical romances, diversity is also another trend in this romance books to read list. I really wanted to aim to include a diverse selection of romance books to entice all romance book readers.
This is a halal romance book with a hint of unforetold secrets, perhaps a wedding on the horizon and second chances. I definitely want to explore this subgenre further!

Twisted Lies by Ana Huang
Book Synopsis: A fake-dating billionaire romance from New York Times bestselling author and BookTok sensation Ana Huang.
Charming, deadly, and smart enough to hide it, Christian Harper is a monster dressed in the perfectly tailored suits of a gentleman.
He has little use for morals and even less use for love, but he can’t deny the strange pull he feels toward the woman living just one floor below him.
She’s the object of his darkest desires, the only puzzle he can’t solve. And when the opportunity to get closer to her arises, he breaks his own rules to offer her a deal she can’t refuse.
Every monster has their weakness. She’s his.
His obsession.
His addiction.
His only exception.
_____
Sweet, shy, and introverted despite her social media fame, Stella Alonso is a romantic who keeps her heart in a cage.
Between her two jobs, she has little time or desire for a relationship.
But when a threat from her past drives her into the arms―and house―of the most dangerous man she’s ever met, she’s tempted to let herself feel something for the first time in a long time.
Because despite Christian’s cold nature, he makes her feel everything when she’s with him.
Passionate.
Protected.
Truly wanted.
Theirs is a love twisted with secrets and tainted by lies…and when the truths are finally revealed, they could shatter everything.
The Twisted Series is definitely a great read for romance book loves who love passionate spicy romance books.
I added Twisted Lies to my spring romance books to read list because it is a great book for romance girlies looking to dip their toe into dark romance. It has very common themes with other dark romance books, without it being too dark.
I recommend you to read this book first before heading into books like God of Malice by Rina Kent, or Haunting Adeline by H.D. Carlton.

King Of Wrath by Ana Huang
Book Synopsis: She’s the wife he never wanted…and the weakness he never saw coming.
Ruthless. Meticulous. Arrogant.
Dante Russo thrives on control, both personally and professionally.
The billionaire CEO never planned to marry—until the threat of blackmail forces him into an engagement with a woman he barely knows.
Vivian Lau, jewelry heiress and daughter of his newest enemy.
It doesn’t matter how beautiful or charming she is. He’ll do everything in his power to destroy the evidence and their betrothal.
There’s only one problem: Now that he has her…he can’t bring himself to let her go.
_____
Elegant. Ambitious. Well-mannered.
Vivian Lau is the perfect daughter and her family’s ticket into the highest echelons of high society.
Marrying a blue-blooded Russo means opening doors that would otherwise remain closed to her new-money family.
While the rude, elusive Dante isn’t her idea of a dream partner, she agrees to their arranged marriage out of duty.
Craving his touch was never part of the plan.
Neither was the worst thing she could possibly do: fall in love with her future husband.
Speaking of Ana Huang…all I have to say is Dante Russo is king. Please add this to your already never ending romance books to read list and thank me later.
The amount of amazing book boyfriends within the Kings Of Sin series by Ana Huang is overwhelming but will leave you wanting more!
If you love spicy books and an arranged marriage trope then this should be your next read. The synopsis alone has me screaming.

Earls Trips by Jenny Holiday
Book Synopsis: The first in a sparkling Regency-era series with a delightfully modern feel, set against the irresistible backdrop of an annual trip taken by three handsome earls . . .
Even an earl needs his ride-or-dies, and Archibald Fielding-Burton, the Earl of Harcourt, counts himself lucky to have two. Archie (the jock), Simon (the nerd), and Effie (the goth) have been BFFs since their school days, and their annual trip holds a sacred spot in their calendars. This year, Archie is especially eager to get away—until an urgent letter arrives from an old family friend, begging him to help prevent a ruinous scandal. Archie’s childhood pal Olive Morgan must be rescued from an ill-fated elopement—and her sister Clementine must be rescued from rescuing Olive. Suddenly the trip has become earls-plus-girls.
This . . . complicates matters. The fully grown Clementine, while as frank and refreshing as Archie remembers, is also different to the wild, windswept girl he knew. This Clem is complex and surprising—and adamantly opposed to marriage. Which, for reasons Archie dare not examine too closely, he finds increasingly vexing.
Then Clem makes him an indecent and quite delightful proposal, asking him to show her the pleasures of the marriage bed before she settles into spinsterhood. And what kind of gentleman would he be to refuse a lady?
Don’t hit me, but this is the last historical romance book in this romance books to read list, okay! Read the synopsis again and tell me this doesn’t sound like a hilarious and funny read.
Three handsome dukes whose yearly trip is spoiled by an unforeseen circumstance and a soon to be spinster looking to explore the “marriage bed” with one of them. It’s giving say less, and order purchased.

A Dawn Of Onyx by Kate Golden
Book Synopsis: Captured by a king of darkness. Forced to find the light within.
Arwen Valondale never expected to be the brave one, offering her life to save her brother’s. Now she’s been taken prisoner by the most dangerous kingdom on the continent, and made to use her rare magical abilities to heal the soldiers of the vicious Onyx King.
Arwen knows better than to face the ancient, wicked woods that surround the castle on her own, which means working with a fellow prisoner might be her only path to freedom. Unfortunately, he’s as infuriating as he is cunning—and seems to take twisted pleasure in playing on Arwen’s deepest fears.
But here in Onyx Kingdom, trust is a luxury she can’t afford.
To make it out of enemy territory, she’ll have to navigate back-stabbing royals, dark magic, and dangerous beasts. But untold power lies inside Arwen, dormant and waiting for a spark. If she can harness it, she just might be able to escape with her life—and hopefully, her heart.
Seeing how much I love romantasy books, A Dawn of Onyx by Kate Golden is the only actual romantasy book in this list of romance books to read. I’m just as surprised darling!
This is a great enemies to lovers trope that will leave you in both anguish and pleasure. The emotional rollercoasters of this book are exciting and will have you hooked on every word. This is the first book in the series, and it’s a great spring read to add to your TBR list.
I hope you enjoyed browsing through the best romance books to read in 2025, and found some awesome new reads. I definitely recommend you to keep up to date with me on Goodreads, so you will be the first to know what romance books are worth reading and which ones aren’t.
I shall see you in my next post darling.
This post was all about romance books to read.
